Presentation Techniques
The only time that I saw Ma’am Olivar use a chalk on the board was on our Arts App Class when she needed to draw and write the instructions for our task that evening. I don’t recall other than that instance or in any other class had the need. Why? Because our teachers doesn’t have to write on the board anymore. The lessons on all of our BTTE subjects have been delivered to the class by means of a presentation, most common form is in PowerPoint. Composed ahead, maybe from the previous BTTE classes and batch. The ease that technology and the Software is amazingly utilized not only for the students but also for the instructors. Having the knowledge, skill and creativity to use this bring today’s educators and speakers closer to the generation they’re at.
I used to dodge chalk and its eraser thrown at me back in the days when Mrs. Agno on our Filipino class in high school catches me doing something else instead of listening. Sometimes it zing through my ear or smack me right in the face. People use to say “class suspended because the chalk got wet”. Because that’s the thing back then, every word, lesson, and notes had to be written on the board, on the spot using chalk and chalk board. If the teacher is prepared, they may have Manila paper ready for posting. Aside from speaking for hours, teachers had to write and erase everything.
On our the 5th day of our Ed Tech class, we were introduced to the capability of MS PowerPoint and MS Excel in giving bringing fun and more interest in learning. Seizing the attention of the audience is important but with these type of interaction and media presentation brings it to a level that even those gadget savvy students will relate. Makes them think learning is fun, just like a game, a learning game. We’ll try this kind of activity on today’s class and I’m excited of what the experience would be.
